I've been trying to figure that one out for a while. My guess is that it is the island of Troy, and when that earthquake and eruption happened, it tore apart the island and it sank. Now, I just think it's a hunk of broken junk underwater.

Locations have been found all over the world claiming to be Atlantis, but the actual island is supposed to be slightly past the "Pillars of Hercules" which was then the limit of the habitable world. Those pillars make the strait of gribaltar(something like that)

The Strait of Gibraltar. Interesting. Now, since they lived on the Mediterranean Sea, then it is supposed to be slightly past the strait on the outside. Either off the coast of Portugal, Spain, or Morroco.

Keep in mind that the city probably shifted its position a bit due to plate tectonic movements, but still it could not be too far from its original position.

Yes, that would make sense, since the Eurasian Plate and African Plate meet there.

If it even exists. It could just be a myth.

That's the dominant assumption I think. Many say its just a myth and many would consider it a wild goose chase to try and seek it out. Though if it does exist and someone finds it, that person will be famous and rich if he can prove it, and then people will be more eager to investigate the matter.

Yeah, but many people wouldn't just go out to look for it, because if it doesn't exist, then they would have wasted so much funding.

Only a very dedicated fanatic would do such a thing. It would be neat if one did actually discover the city, assuming it exists.

It would, no doubt, but such a person would have to have raised all funds by his/herself.
