Crop Circles. UFO sightings. THe pyramids. All of these seem to point to the stars. But, are they jsut hoaxes and actually buildings or are they signs from a distant civilization? If they exist, are they hostile or beneficial? What do you think?

Aleins, thats a neat subject. I belive in them, because there is already proof. Anything that doesnt belong in earth, is considered Alien. we found bacteria on mars. And bacteria is life. Alll life starts small. But its hard to imagine what they would look, and live like. How would they speak? Slurrs? Buzzes? Or maybe just motions? How would thier technology work?
And no, it doesnt work like star trek, where for some reason an alien race looks like a human, speaks english and is at the same stage of technology. So fake that show is.

I hate how lost of people assume that aliens are more advanced green people who always fly in saucer type ships and are always intent on conquering Earth. All that an alien needs to be is an undiscover cell or plant life.

AMEN!
It is just the typical view that aliens are this hostile advanced species! But I will tell you how that belief began:
SOme italian astronmer saw deep channels on Mars. As you all know, channels are naturally formed waterways. This guy was italian and the italian word for channels is canali. So some American or Brit got wind of this and heard that canali were on MArs. Obviously he didn't bother to translate, and thought it was a mispronounciation so he told everyone that there were canals on Mars. H.G. Wells, writer of War of the Worlds, heard this and wrote a book about a dying civilization who dug canals to drain all possible water from the plar ice caps of Mars. So, he concluded that they would soon invade. He wrote about it in a book, and subsequent movies and radio broadcasts popularized the idea until today, people think of aliens as highly advanced hostiles. This is all true.

Their assumptions could be true but it is very unlikely. It is likely that they are peaceful, but in our arrogance and fear we will be the agressive ones who start a war.

Humans: I doubt it!achnay hei! (german for fire in the hole) Aliens:Sir what are you doing..dead. Humans: Yeah i killed an alien! SOmeone get me a diet coke...(another running joke between my friends, as a joking reference to tiredness after strenous activity)

That just might happen, but I would find it unlikely that we would understand eacher, no 2 lanuages can be the same.
I doubt anyone would really care but some time ago I've been designing an alien race for the heck of it, and creating unique stuff for an alien race is hard when your trying not use humans as a base. For example: Their alfabet is the same but just appears different, and their body parts are essentially the same thing. But so far I have found ways around that and I have several ideas of this unique race, I might even use it in my book BP, they would be in the first one but they would play a huge role in the third one.

Humans generally tend to imagine all unfamiliar things in human form, so it is natural to picture aliens with a head, legs, a body, and arms, when in reality they could have none of these things.

I guess... Though I did come up with an art unique to my race: They are telepathic and one of their most popular forms of art is a mental impression. I it is a demonstration of your mental prowess to conjur a picture or a message in an area for years and can be only seen in the mind. The impressions are also a means to examining history, a powerful impression could be left behind for centuries of that race in ancient times, they would be particularly strong if the one who made the impression is faceing his final hour of life from a defeat of some sort. What do you think?

An interesting thought, but keep in mind that the term "alien" does, in no way mean that the life form has some sort of special power. An alien race's features and abilities would almost totally be influenced by the environment in which they live. For example, the common appearance of aliens (The big head, large eyes, green or grey skin, etc.) could actually be real, if there was something in the air or atmosphere on the planet that unprotected eyes could not function in, the race would adapt to have larger eyes with a protective layer, for example.

That is true, we adapted to our climate, as did other animals.
