If I may stray back to the previous discussion for a moment: Note, Drizzt that China is not completely communist, it now incorporates Capitalist elements. Russia, on the other hand, seems to have greatly suffered from their choice of government, among other things. Perhaps a change is soon in order for them, too, as the possible threat of another Cold War is mounting. Has anyone else heard about this?

I wouldn't be surprised if it was done silently so most people don't even know its going on.

No, many are the people who know about it, the possibility of another Cold War, that is. There are always whispers before a war starts, we will know, but what difference will it make? Besides, its hard to predict a Cold War, no one could be certain whether or not battle would ensue.

It's easier to predict a real war because the potential is there and it's happening a lot right now. Another Cold War would generate very swift advancement of technology like the space race and the nuclear arms race.

Perhaps that is a good thing? It would put much pressure on the development of weapons like lasers and psychoweapons.

It would, in that way. War has always been an extremely effective motivator, especially for technology. We would have far less technology today if not for war.

An interesting paradox it is: War is what got us to where we are and it might one day bring the peace that most desire. War can make changes for the better.

Too true. War is inevitable but the end result eventually made things better for some countries, but the others were crippled beyond repair.

Sun Tsu perhaps? I don't really have any idea, but he was a Chinese philosopher.

As I said a few posts previous. I am not well-versed in his ideals, though. Are you?
