I have to say I like days where it is cold enough for water to freeze but with no snow, then when i am on winter breaks i can go down to a nearby stream and play ice hockey with my neighbors.

I'm not so sure i would do that. I don't even have neighbors during the winter. I don't know what happened but i use to like the cold. -40 C never did stop me from going outside, but now I'm more prone to cold but more resistant to heat.

We do test the ice first, if it is unstable than we find an overhanging tree branch and hang on to it, jump on the ice, slide over to another place, and watch it break. Although seemingly monotonous, it is very fun, but producing negative results if we want to play hockey there later.

I use to do the same in a pubble near my school. (Without the branch) And it was very amusing, but also had negative effects: My legs were soaked all day that school day. It was worth it though. I live by a lake and I could play hockey at will, but I don't like the sport all that well. Isn't that a contradiction in terms: A Canadian who doesn't like hockey. But I do like the knock off games of hockey though.
