Oh? Care to explain?
On the topic of movies and TV shows, I've recently given the show 24 an hour or so of my attention. These last episodes were actually quite good. Part of the reason I watched it was to observe the acting of Kiefer Sutherland, who, as I've said before, is voice-acting Raistlin in the 2007 Dragonlance film. He is quite a good actor. The show itself is adept at creating suspense, and the storyline is relatively simple, but effective. I noticed a number of familiar actors in this last episode, (Today being January 15, 2007) and it is not at all a bad show. Has anyone else watched 24 recently?

Theres nothing to explain. If Global Warming occurs in 50 years, BP's way cannot be achived at all. Its just like that. He suggests Space travel and terraforming. Nothing but mere ideas. And your saying this CAN happen in 50 years? As for 24, Ive never seen it.

My apologies, I misunderstood. I thought you meant to say that you did not believe that GLOBAL WARMING could get that extreme in 50 years, but it seems you were referring to BP's suggestion of a technological solution, yes? If that is what we are talking about, then yes, I think that global warming could have major effects within 50 years. Nothing is certain, but I have serious doubts that the correct technology will simply present itself at the right moment. Not until every penny is extracted from oil industry and fossil fuels, etc. will anyone think it is REALLY time to act. One thing that people in general simply don't seem to understand is that global warming doesn't simply creep along at the same pace. As it progresses, the effects get much faster and more intense.

Yes, I have been watching 24 lately, and the last minute of the most recent episode caught my attention. Nuclear Explosions always make things interesting.
And I do not believe that the technology will simply present itself. Take this situation for example. If you are on a platform suspended over molten lava and the platform is slowly descending into the magma, would you just sit there or would you try and get out desperately? Answer that and you have my view.

Sometimes trying desperately to get out is futile, can indeed make you die faster. Oh, I agree that they will desperately try to repair the damage, solve the problem of global warming, (Once it is too late, once the platform starts its descent) but I disagree that the attempt automatically means that you will acquire the right technology to save yourself. Does a grappling hook or a jet pack suddenly appear in front of you when you are trying to escape from the magma pit? Humans can become extinct, they are not immune to death. Some people believe that some higher power will save us no matter what happens, but how can such a concept be relied upon? Earth is but one small speck against the immense backdrop of the universe, can it be believed that Earth is so special that it will endure anything that is thrown at it?
The thing is, we have the technology right now to avoid the magma pit altogether. Global warming could be reversed, but many of the oil companies and fossil fuel companies, etc. have supposedly planted propoganda to the effect that they want to change the image of global warming from "fact to theory"--if you've heard that scientists are not sure that global warming exists, that is apparently untrue, it is mostly lies planted by influential companies. I cannot prove this, of course, but An Inconvenient Truth does present reasonable proof of this.

I imagine they blame the oil companies for a large portion of the problem. I hope that they crash and burn. Too long have they been a source of corruption. (In my opinion anyway)
What really vexes me is that so few major energy company have made little use of the natural energy sources out there. I am no environmentalist to be sure, but its a free source, sure it would be expensive at first to establish such a power plant but the end result would be incredibly beneficial. Many avoid this because of the cost. Typical human nature: Only able to see the short term benefits and take the easy way only to learn that it comes with a price. Short sight is a big factor in the whole climate change issue, and it is a factor that must be eliminated before its too late.
I've seen 24. It's a good show. I would watch it more often but as you can imagine I've been busy for the past few weeks. I really wanted to see the episode with that nuclear explosion, but my studies demanded my attention. (someone's head will role for that. He he.)

From what little I've seen of the show, there are many episodes that have nuclear explosions. These days, I gather the theme of the show is countering terrorist strikes, intermingled with some family issues that Jack must contend with. I really only watch the odd episode of it, and I have great gaps in the information I know, but the basic theme and layout of the show is very much similar from episode to episode, so it is easy to pick up on it. Admittedly, there are aspects of the show that I am not overly fond of, but it isn't a complete waste of 60 minutes.
LOST will be returning soon, the exact date I do not recall. They have also made the promise of "no repeats", so one must be sure to be there every Wednesday.

I can't wait. I could use something to look forward to on a Wednesday night. I find myself liking season 1 and 2 better then season 3 despite the answers that are comming out of it. However after seeing more of season 3 might change my mind.

Anyways, on the topic of movies. Anyone hear of the movie 300? It comes out in early March, but CBS and FOX have already begun to advertise it. It looks good. I don't really know much about it though.
But, I'm going to be watching another movie this weekend called Epic Movie. It from a couple of the writers of the Scary Movie series, and it looks freaking halarious. I'll probably post a review when I see it.

I've heard about Epic Movie, I have also heard about 300. There is one thing about historical war movies, movies placed back in such ancient times that are made at the current standard, is that the makeup, actors, special effects, scripts, etc, they all seem to modern. LOTR did well in making things historical, but that was no history, it was fantasy (althought I have heard book descriptions that it was meant to be a far history of our world millions of years ago) they just look to modern and I don't get the feel for them. Lost is going to re-premiere Febuary 7th, and the new Fahrenheit 451 premieres on Feb. 9. That is going to be a good week for me.

It has begun. I've just seen an ad for another fantasy movie, but I don't think it was another Eragon ad. I don't remember what it was, but if it is something new and is in fact a fantasy movie as I suspect, then my predictions will be true a lot sooner than I expected. If I hope I'm right. Nothing would please me more than to see some great fantasy movies.

Pan's Labyrinth? That is the only fantasy movie coming soon that I am aware of. Supposedly the movie has gotten great reviews, has been put on the same high pedestal of fantasy as the Lord Of The Rings. The previews of the movie look exceedingly strange, I really have no idea what it is about.
