Maybe. Maybe the last level before each boss could be free-roaming so you have to find the boss in a big area.

That would be different, but worth a try!

I personally think it would do very well.

A free-roaming game where you can play as different characters (and that's different characters all the way through - you can complete the game as any one of them, but due to their different abilities which mean they can reach different levels/parts of levels, you have to finish it with all of them to complete it properly).
Warp rooms games were great on the PS1, but Wrath of Cortex just felt like a PS1 game with PS2 graphics. A return to the golden age of Crash for me would be a return to proper platforming Crash adventures. All the earliest Crash games were platformers, but these days the spin-off racing and party games seem to outnumber the platformers.

Unfortunately. But, the Warp-roomers are the classic ones, and we need a game like that every now and then.

But Sonic games started off as 2-D games, so they're the classic Sonic games (and I honestly think they were better than the 3-D Sonics). Twinsanity was still a classic Crash, but due to the PS2's abilities it was able to progress from warp room Crash platform games.

Twinsanity was no classic. It was the first free-roaming Crash game.

Crash 1 - Classic Crash 2 - Classic Crash 3 - Classic CTR - Classic (sort of) The rest - Not classic I rest my case.
Off-topic: My 100th post.

Don't get me wrong, the Free-Roaming on Twinsanity was great, but Crash needs to revert to the old ways to maintain a reputation as a series.
