"Let the fools come after me, one after another, an endless line of eager assassins. With each kill, I grow wiser, and with added wisdom, I grow stronger."
-Artemis Entreri- -Book: Servant Of The Shard (R.A. Salvatore)-
Entreri, a well known and rightfully feared assassin in the streets of Calimport. For all of his life, he devoted himself to be the perfect fighter. For most of his life he became one of the best fighters in all of Faerune, left unchallenged and undefeated. That was of course until he met Drizzt DoUrden. The 2 were arch rivals and enemies from the beginning. Each were like a mirror to each other, and both saw something they despised. Entreri had been defeated by Drizzt twice, though Entreri is by far one of Drizzt's greatest foes out there, but both have left each other hoping they would never meet again. Entreri came back to Calimport. Being human, he ages fast and many young and ambitious assassins would love nothing more then to have claimed to have killed the legendary Entreri. The quote is referring to those would be assassins. Despite the fact that he his starting to age, he is more then capable of keeping his hold on Calimport. Any who would challenge that fact, he will kill.

"Don't mistake coincidence for fate" -Locke in LOST
Just in this newest episode, this quote was an interesting that I find particularily quotable.

"Do keep ever present in your thoughts, my friend that an illusion can kill you if you believe in it." -Jarlaxle- Book: Servant Of The Shard (R.A. Salvatore)
Jarlaxle is sparring with Entreri and he often uses illusions to aid himself. However, an illusion must still be assumed as dangerous as the real thing unless you know otherwise, it could be the difference between life and death.

"What is it the Shalafi used to say? 'Even wizards must suffer.' There is always a price." -Dalamar in "Dragons of a Lost Star"
The word Shalafi is what Dalamar called his master, Raistlin, referring to what Raistlin told to him once.
"I risked my life for the sake of the magic. I would have given my life for the sake of the magic. What happened? The magic departed. The gods left. They left me bereft, powerless, helpless. They left me-- ordinary!"
-Dalamar in "Dragons of a Lost Star"
Dalamar refers to the loss of magic in the world, a sacrifice that unknowingly was to be made by the world's inhabitants. Dalamar did not know that by trying to save the world for the sake of his coveted art, he would assist in banishing it. He speaks of the unfortunate irony of the situation. Magic in different forms yet exist, but not in the same way.

"I have this! Never forget that. Without it, I could likely still defeat you, though you are good my friend-better then any human I have ever known. But with this in my possession...you are but a mere mortal. Joined in Crenshinibon, I can destroy you with but a thought. Never forget that."
-Jarlaxle- Book: Servant Of The Shard (R.A. Salvatore)
Jarlaxle had finished his sparring with Entreri and he reminds Entreri that he would be helpless against the might of Jarlaxle's new magical artifact named Crenshinibon (Commonly called the Crystal Shard). The Crystal Shard is an artifact that contains the power of 7 liches and it has a mind of its own. It's power is devastating in the wrong hands, or even in the right hands.

"Only a pittance. What they (The dead) do with the rest of it (magic), I haven't been able to discover. I can almost see it out there, like a vast ocean, yet I recieve but a trickle, barely enough to slake my thirst. Never enough to satisfy it."
-Dalamar in "Dragons of a Lost Star" (There have been a number of fairly good quotes from here lately)

I don't know about you but I found this one kind of funny.
"Nothin's what it seems drow. Nothin. Ye try to follow what ye know, ye know? But then ye find that ye know not what ye thought ye knowned! Thought a dog be tastin good- looked good enough-but now me belly's cursing me every move!"
-Bruenor Battlehammer (Dwarvish friend of Drizzt)- Book: Sojourn The Legend Of Drizzt book 3. (R.A. Salvatore)
Drizzt had met Bruenor some time ago and the dwarf by rule hated all drow, but after Drizzt saved Bruenor's daugter's life, he forgives him and later befriends him. And Bruenor really did eat a dog, just prior to this quote.

"...I am merely remarking upon the paradox of asking a masked man who he is."
V in "V For Vendetta"
That's part of the original quote, but only on part of it. This is when V is first introduced. Evey, the girl he has rescued from the city's "patrols" has obviously asked who he is, and this is part of his response.

"This is my new mop. George, my friend, he gave me this mop. It's not as good as my first mop, I miss my first mop, but it's still a good mop. ... Because life is like a mop. Sometimes it's full of dirt and crud and stuff, but you've got to clean it out. And sometimes, you've got to really scrub, and if that doesn't work, if that doesn't work...you can't give up. You've got to run a window and yell, "Hey! These floors are dirty as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore!"

"'But, Shalafi, there is not much left if you turn down the world.' Dalamar faltered, not understanding. Unless you have seen worlds beyond this one that are hidden from my eyes...' 'Worlds beyond?' Raistlin pondered. 'Interesting thought. Perhaps someday I should consider that possibility.'"
The first speaker is Dalamar, the second Raistlin.

"The half-elf comes to me for advice, not because I can see the future. I can't. I am no seer. He comes because I am able to think, which is something most of these other fools seem incapable of doing."

"I existed in a world of surety and certainty. Now that I am older, now that I have seen 4 decades of life, the only thing I know for certain is that I know nothing for certain."
-Artemis Entreri- Book: Servant Of The Shard (R.A. Salvatore)
Entreri was always so sure of himself, and lived as long as he did because of his certainty, but after being defeated by Drizzt twice, he has begun to see that there is no way to be absolutely certain. Some things were and would be out of his control. His stay among the Drow elves confirmed that, fore even the deadliest and darkest of human fighter in all of Fearune could not survive with the chaotic drow without help. Both incidents had made him realize that many things are beyond his control.

The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one that heralds new discoveries, is not 'Eureka!', but 'That's funny …'
