If you had to live in a desert or a tundra, which would it be and why? I realize that a tundra is a form of desert but I assume you know what i mean.
The desert has multiple animals to hunt and the nights are least cool, water can be found in cactuses and you would not have to worry about lack of energy from lack of sun. However, shelter is hard to come by in a desert and despite the water stored in cactuses, they can also be hard to find, and the animals there can be quite dangerous. (rattle snakes and scorpions in particular)
The tundra has an ample supply of water in snow form, you can make yourself an effective igloo shelter, and animals are there and they can be used for other purposes other than eating, and there will be a few weeks of summer with ordinary forest conditions. The problem is that food is hard to come by becase seals and fish are under water, and just walking on ice is risky and polar bears are rare, you can easily suffer from hypothermia.
I would chose the tundra, because unlike the desert, a shelter can be made easier and more efficiantly, and I think warming up is easier than trying to cool down. Water is near limitless and food from the rare polar bear and seals can be used for clothing.

I agree with you, the cold would be, in my opinion, a lot easier to cope with.

Blunt response, but I would have to agree with the crew on this one. It is far easier to warm up than cool down, and shelter and heat can be made by said igloo if you have enough survival lore. Water would be little trouble, and hunting would be possible if you posessed, again, enough survival lore.

Then you'd likely die either way, therefore it matters little which you would choose. The extreme conditions of either would be enough to assure death to someone who knew nothing about survival.

Yes, that was implied. This topic could almost have been a poll. Been a while since one of those has crept our way.
