Yes, of course. Do you have any sort of rough estimate on how long that will take, will we have to delay the e-mail for a time?

I'd like to mention one more thing:
Okay, let's say that your email is a huge success and many people are on the forum. At this point, you have successfully completed step one.
Step two: How are you going to KEEP them on the forum? You need to think of ways to keep them on the forum. I'm afraid to say that your credit bank and signature shop won't be enough.
To start, you will need to keep ALL parts of the forum active and constantly updated with new information, which means that all parts of the forum should have daily posts. The only way people will stay on the forum is if they find it interesting or fun, and you need to make sure that everyone finds at least "the one thing" that keeps them active members. This is a good start.
I'm not trying to make this sound impossible or extremely difficult, because it's not. In fact, when it all boils down, it's quite simple. But I am trying to produce the best results for the forum, which will take a bit of work.

I will do my best with a a daily post, perhaps a thought of the day thread or something similar?

I have multiple ideas of ways to make this place interesting but I need lots of people for it.

What, your games? Their time has past, at least for now. Who knows what will happen when new members arrive? As for finding ways to keep members we get, the creation of a fantasy section is a part of the plan to keep members, possibly to find multiple interests that members share and, of course, expanding venues of conversation. But a Lost forum has potential to keep members by itself, there are endless theories that could be discussed, and the series is ongoing, allowing new conversation before and after every new episode, as long as the staff and other constant members continue to support the forum's progress. Ideally, this is partly how it would work, but nothing is certain.

Hopefully it won't end up like the lost section so far: there is almost nothing more to be said. With an episode every week we at least have steady constant material. And yes Ras, the Games was one of my ideas. I have thought about my good old RPG game based on Reno's old Crash RPG. I realize that mine was a failure but I came up with an idea to make it simplier and better. Once the members get comfortable here some contest would be fun, like the 3D modeling contest but with something more general or common so its not limited to only a few members, I'm thinking of something in a similar format as TMP's superhero contest. ...I just had an idea: maybe a Lost based game would not be such a bad idea, just a thought. Anyway once people come and are interested in the general board, we should revive some of the old topics burried in the pages. Lots of them were great but we only had so much to say. We can get some new opinions with fresh members. Keep those controversial topics up too, they seem to be some of the best topics. I have no ideas so far beyond these.

Ok, sounds like a good idea. But remember, people just come here to talk. Almost 90% hate comming to webforums and playing games.

And making a Lost game? That is REALLY hit or miss, and I'm thinking it would be a major miss--how can you make a forum game based on something so intricate and complicated? The War Games were. . . acceptable, but having more than one game gets tiresome, conversation is the main event here.

Exactally. Games are good. But not 100 complicated ones

Not on a forum, at any rate. They have to be simple enough so that people can make it a part of their regular posting, but not so simple that it is terribly boring. It is very difficult to find that balance, and even a fairly good forum game never lasts very long. I don't find it worth it.

I will keep that in mind when I design new games, assuming the new people would like them. If they don't then I won't bother. The contest still seem like a good idea. What we should is just lay down all ideas no matter how bizzar they are. Perhaps we can modify the ideas into something better.

I agree with Reno about games. Forums are for discussions, and that's why people join.
1. Games need constant attention. When the person/people in charge of the game stop updating, "game fall down and go boom."
2. How do you give award for forum games? Sure you could give credit on this forum, but that get'd old after a while. I'm sure you could think of a few other prizes, but they all get old after some time.
3. What happens when you run out of ideas? I know that Lost is regenerative in the sense of new ideas, but a game a forum game will eventually need a new or modified structure to keep it interesting to others.
4. All things considered, games need variety, updating, and NEW add-ons.
I didn't say it was impossible, but it's time consuming and fairly difficult to keep it successful. Most forum games will not last forever.

You have a point there, and i don't intend to use the games as my primary idea anymore. I realize that they are not a main attraction, but I will leave it as this: I have given up making games for now but should the people show interest in one, I will make it. For now they won't happen. (By me anyway)
I will now try to revive some old topics. I ended a lot of those topics, so forgive me if you see me double posting a bit in these next few weeks.

Ok good. Games get confusing and anoying over time. Once in a while, a simple game is ok, but people come to furms to discuss. thats about it
