We need a main site.
A small, up to date, main website abut LOST, it hit me, that we cant survive on a forum alone. So, today, I will be making a basic site, with up to date info, and a layout just like the forum. After the site is made ( a few days) The ad will be sent out. Our wait is almost over...

Quite an idea, one I might have suggested myself, but I'm not the one who would have to put the work into making it. On this site, though, what are you planning to put there? Character profiles, episode summaries, Lost related sightings on TV, everything?

Hopefully a bit of everything. Hopefully as popularity increases, the site will expand as well.

One would hope, yes. It will obviously have to be updated periodically when new Lost info becomes available. I think it sounds like a good idea, but it will take a bit of work to keep it up to date. Let me know if you want assistance of some kind.

It sounds like a good idea but i wonder if it will help our popularity. I can see nothing bad comming from it so why not.

Well, people want more than a forum. They want a informative site with it. The forum usually comes after they read stuff on a informative site.

I see your logic. It should enhance our chances of getting new members for sure then. Will this just be part of a link in the home page or just a separate site containing a link to the forum?

The main site will have a button to the forum.

This all sounds great, but for all of this to work:
You must get your name out. Email is good, but it won't be enough.
You will have to work hard to find other places to link to your forum or the homepage.
You need to find places where there are people who are likely to enjoy a LOST forum and try to advertise.
Now, I'm not saying to go around and spam everywhere, please don't. But you will need to research for "hot spots" on the web.
Your staff will need to advertise or look for places to advertise.
As I like to say: "A business with no sign is a sign of no business."

Its an excellent point. I did try sig advertising, on LOST sites, but produced little results. The email should do something, Also, Im looking into more Refferal systems as well

I would find it hard to advertise on other lost sites or any other forum because they try to stop you if I remember correctly.

That isn't the advertising we're talking about. Not completely, at least. Do you plan on finishing the main site before you send out the e-mail, to give the site more credibility? I understand, Reno, that you're also looking for other ways to advertise, but EVERYTHING is slow-going with dial-up. Yes, usually a forum comes after the main site, but we've proven that it's not completely necessary. Still, it should help us, if only a little bit. Gathering all the information we'll need will take a while, though.

I suppose you're right, though we do have something of a timeline, as the best time to send out the e-mail is near the beginning of Season 3.

And the main site as well.
