Overview: This Tutorial is a completely original branch-off tutorial I made. What I did was use the Electric Metal efttect tutorial, and rewrite some of the steps to get black water. Ready? Its a neat, and fairly easy process.
Requirements: Your going to need Photoshop. Probably 5 or better.
Difficulty: 5 / 10
Step 1 : Ok, open up photoshop, I used a 500x500 image. Make sure the Mode is RGB, and now make the Background black.
Step 2 : Now, go Filters->Render->Lens Flare. Keep all the settings the same, expcept move it to the Top Left corner.
Step 3 : Now, repeat step 2, except, make sure a lens flare is in the: Top Left, Top Right, Bottom Left, Bottom Right, and Center. Thats five in total!
Step 4 : Now thats done. GO Filter->Sketch->Chrome and set the settings as ilustrated below \/\/\/
Step 5 : Now, go Ctrl+U. And make the settings as below.
Step 6 : Now. Duplicate the layer, and set the Blending mode to "Overlay" ( It should be above the layer. ) And now, push Ctrl+E to merge the layer.
Now, duplicated it again, and set the blending of this layer to "Screen" And now, making sure the Screen layer is selected, go Filter->Distort->Wave. And click Radomize a few times, and go Ok. Repeat the Red Step 3 more times!!!
Step 7 : Now thats all done, you can sortof start to see the blackish water. But its not black,...Its very bright, well, a invert will fix it. Hit Ctrl+I to invert.
Step 8 : Now thats done, you must Hit Ctrl+U and edit the Hue one last time. These values are really up to you. I suggest however, a Saturation of +20, and a Lightness of -13. The Hue and color is up to you. Enjoy!
CREATOR NOTE: Try different things, the swirls of blackness are caused by the lens flares done at the begining. Knowing this, you can try moving around and editing the Lens flares to see what happens. Also, try entering wave values, instead of randomizing, or, try putting the lens flares close...you never know what will happen. The closser the flares, the more blackness in one area.
