Bah, the most that today's society can muster is "passive resistance", they'd almost be that lazy. What galls me is that "The average joe" will almost immediatly agree to whatever the majority wants, they don't have opinions of their own, they are apparently lazy enough for that. What does it matter, anyway? This society is dragging its lazy heels into the ground and falling into a rut. The governements are too concerned with bits of paper with numbers on them to confront any problem, and the people are too lazy to do anything but protest. I just have to smirk and turn away.

No, my style is my own, but I guess in that opinion we are similar. We came upon this view in different ways, (Walked a different road which converged, and all that) but yes, that is, in a simple form, my opinion.

BOT: You've got to give the age of guns credit in some fasion though, it's not like they don't require any skill what so ever, and the tactics for army movement is different from what it use to be but not nessesarily worse.

You know, I've been in situations of negative thought just like these. I knew exactly what was happening in the world around me, and I hated it. It made me want to change the world, but I knew that was almost impossible. I knew the world would be a better place if it went my way, but wow, that's soooo impossible. But wait, what if I COULD change the world?
It took me a while to realize this, but there is a medicine that cures thoughts like these; it's called:
POSITIVE THINKING
Why be the negative guy? You're putting stress on yourself by thinking about it. Granted, it's GOOD that you all think about the world, and that proves you are intelligent people who will go far in life and make a difference.
But, after you've released all your negative thoughts, cool down and start thinking abou the future in a positive way. Be the optimist who believes that we still have a future and that we WILL change for the better. You will feel so good about it.
For example, many people thought the Cold War was the end of everything, and I mean MANY (probably 80% of the world). However, we are still sitting here typing on this forum. The other 20% didn't have a thing to worry about because they kept a positive attitude the whole time. Therefore, they were much happier people during the Cold War. And if the world did come to an end, those 20% would die happy, and it's hard to ask for more.
It's good to think about things like this, because you can keep a positive attitude toward life.
Why not change the world? It may seem impossible, but if you always tell yourself that you can, then nothing can stop you. Regardless if you succeed or not, you will be very satisfied that you did the best you could when you sit back and think about your accomplishments.
Life goes by fast as you get older, so you should try to enjoy it as much as you can. Don't stress on the world's problems; try to find good in them, and do what you can to FIX them. If more people tried to fix problems, then we would have quite a few less.
The problem is that many say "What would ONE person do to change the world, I WON'T make a difference?"
But you can make a difference, so think positive. Hope that more people will catch on, and you will like yourself so much better.
That's my spill.

Amen. If we complain about the state of the world we are watching it get worse, but if we do something about it, we enjoy looking at we have done!

You are entitled to your own opinions. I suppose if we all had the same opinions, a forum would be meaningless, but this is not the place for this debate. BOT (A recurring phrase for this topic) Drizzt, your point which supports the modern weaponry/warfare is, in some ways, true. The tactics of warfare have greatly benefitted by being able to kill or lay siege from greater distances without the need for enormous equipment. But there will always be a fascination and affinity for the older, sword and shield style of fighting for those who have the interest. The truth is, though, that eventually the sword had to be abolished for the gun, perhaps for many reasons. There is always the desire to advance upon an established technology, but perhaps the desire to be able to kill with a minimum of pain (If aimed well) played a part as well.

Perhaps even the gun will become outdated soon enough.

You seem to agree with me in my earlier post last page: Might as well do what you can where and when we are. There are n00bs and fools out there, but why let them stop us? My ambitions don't involve them at all. They don't exist in my plans, and I'm sure they don't exist in any of yours. Needless to say I agree with you Fox. The flaws of the world do have one advantage I see: They make excellent material for stand up comics! You never know BP, guns might one day be out dated, but it's very difficult I find to think of something superior, for a standard combat weapon anyway. They seem to be a good design, because it can be improved. Maybe the new weapon might be a form of mind control. It wouldn't even require accual fighting.

psycho weapons, i should work on those, to access the power of the mind. I was thinking along the lines of lasers.

That was one of the upgrades to the gun I was refering to. A non gun or explosive based weapon used in war is kind of hard to think of. Perhaps the enhancement of the mind could prove effective. No one truely knows what one could achieve with access to more than 10% of the brain, so why not find out? It could be benificial.

An interesting concept--To be able to crush someone on the battlefield of the mind. . . that would likely take much more skill and control than any modern weaponry, but who knows what could be achieved if even 11% of our brain was used? 10% could be on the verge of a mental breakthrough, who knows?

Well lots probably use more than 10%, it's just that 10% is the average but I see your point. If we do start using mind power as a war weapon, it's more than likely that we would try to create devices to strengthen the range or focus better on a target if that can be done.
