So I'm thinking that there are people who are Dharma recruiters. They get people to come to the island and do various things.
Some possiblities: Claire's psychic, Richard Malkin He bought her the plan ticket and said, "NO it has to be this flight" He called Eko over to investigate a miracle, and then flew back on that plane
Jack's father, Christian Shepherd I know that he was involved in Ana Lucia getting on the plane, and maybe he even faked his own death to get Jack on it?
Any others?

Those are some good theories, Neat finds, I think Pens father, managed to get Desmond to race around thw world, and he knew that if Desmond whent on that race, he would end up on the island.

I thought the same once he suggested the idea. However, I can't imageine why his daughter is intent on finding the Island. Perhaps she hopes to uncover the secrets that Dharma unlocked or created.

Or just get Desmond back, and expose Dharma.

Maybe Jack's dad is a Dharma recruiter. He was the reason Jack and Ana Lucia were in Sydney going back to L.A.

I don't recall anything like that, must be a first season incident. I would doubt that she would go through the trouble of hiring sailors to find the Island just for Desmond, unless she has a greater alterior motive for finding him.

Its defantly to find Desmond, and maybe expose Dharma.

Expose them... Why would she want the public to know about Dharma, especially if her father is part of it, unless she possibly started to get interested in the project and tried to forge another agreement with them to continue their work.

Or maybe she was forced into some of the research experiments.

I'm not so sure about that. If she was going to be subjected to Dharma expiriments, then she would be at the Island already.

well we don't know that she is not for sure but that would be an unwanted twist.

I agree, but I am 90% sure that she is not on the island. If she was already on the island, then she wouldn't be looking for it.

She is just at home or whatever, waiting to find out where Desmond is.

She was in the far north or south because the best place to detect electromagnetic anamolies would be at the magnetic poles.

I don't think she is living there. She is probably just in the comforts of her own home and she just hired people to man outposts in those areas to scan for the island.
