How did the black rock get on the island so far inland? It couldn't have been the first incident because it is a wooden ship. It was before Dharma or Hanso was on the island, it was before the incident. This leads me to conclude that there was something special about hte island, and this thing lead to strange phenomona, such as parapyschological, magnetic, medical, zoological, and meteorological abnormalities. I don't know how to explain the Utopian Socialism. Anyway, that special thing somehow drew the boat there, maybe they saw something and came to investigate. Or maybe, I just thought of this as I was writing, a storm washed it ashore. But maybe the ship was moored somewhere offshore and the meteorological station somehow controlled the storm, maybe that was the first incident. Or maybe this entire post belongs in the the theories section. What do you all think?

Its neat, I have no idea how that got there, plus its very old because there was proof of slaves on the boat.

Dynamite was invented in 1866 or 67, after the slave trade was outlawed in most countries. THere was mining equipment in there though.

There were many African's in the slave trade despite the abolishment. Perhaps they got their hands on some of them.

It is possible, they appeard to be slaves or prisoners, since they were chained up.

If they were prisoners then they could have been anyone. What nation did that ship belong to? It might help me understand what kind of prisoners they had if they had prisoners at all.

the back of the ship said Portsmith or Portsmouth. There are several ports by that name, one in England and one in America at least.

Both would suggest that if there were any slaves, then they would most likely be African.

Confirmed. The slaves were definatly African. Locke said so himself. It all adds up too. By the time of the Black Rock, slavery was abolished, however Africa was reliant on the slave trade for its economy, so many continued the trade in secret.

THere was this new thing in the ARG showing that Magnus Hanso(Known resting place of Magnus Hanso Black Rock) Owned the ship. It was launched around 1870 or something. Here is the link. www.4815162342.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=22647

Good find. Perhaps the captain was on the Black Rock when it crashed and started his foundation there.

Magnus Hanso crashed on the island after seeing some strange thing there. Hmmm..., maybe Alvar was born on the island?

And he perhaps spawned the idea of conducting his test there because it was so hidden.
