The writers said it was an acronym, but haven;t said what it means. On lostpedia they said it was
Department of Heuristics and Research Material Applications
That doesnt seem to show all of the Dharma Initiatives' aspects. Heuristics is of or relating to a usually speculative formulation serving as a guide in the investigation or solution of a problem.(http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/heuristics)
I think that it is something else.
Degroot Hanso Advanced Research of Magnetic Anomalies (I got that from somewhere else)
or
Does Hanso Always Rely Mainly on Acronyms? (That too)
And if it was simply all of the first letters of the science fields it would be
Parapsychology Electromagnetism Psychology Utopian Social Engineering Meteorology Zoology
The PEPUMZ Initiative.
What do you think?
Or going with my military base theory:
Degroot Hanso Artillery Research for Military Applications
or
Degroot Hanso Advanced Research for Military Applications
You can post what you think it would be, or spoofs like this
Deadly Helium Amasses in Really Massive Amounts
Different Heavy Advocates of Really Mad Ardvarks
Doesn't Hanso Always Return Most Allowances?
Did Henry Attack Really Mad Anchorets?(loners)

I still like the idea of the PEPUMZ initiative. Or the EPUMZU initiative.
