I'm going to see what I can do with some new effects on my Sephiroth wallpaper, but that will likely require looking at and modifying tutorials. As I see it, the backgrounds are the main issue for mine, though they turned out well, they aren't as complex or intricate as I would like them to be. I'll fix that on the upcoming Sephiroth wallpaper, and perhaps re-make a Vincent one later, we'll see. I'll probably start soon, but it will take some time. As for rating these wallpapers, are there opinions on whether it will be a casual "good work, here's what I liked and didn't like..." or a number rating system?

A little both, maybe a review. Rasm check the tutorial section. I made a tutuorial on how to get rid of edges.

I noticed. I'll try that technique on my future wallpapers and signatures.

My first attempt at a wallpaper is complete, but instead of a Drizzt or an Arthas wallpaper, I have chosen a Marathon wallpaper. Not much was put into it in the special effects department by I like it. It looks good on my desktop anyway. What do you think?

Not bad for a first venture into wallpaper making. Basic, yes, mainly for the lack of effects, and for the lack of material you would be able to find when looking for Marathon images. It is very much another different style of wallpaper than what we have seen thus far. I have also finished another wallpaper project of my own. I will skip the description and you may see for yourself. I present: Sephiroth

...HOLY CRAP!!! This has got to be your best wallpaper yet! Again if I didn't know you made this I would have suspected that Square made it! Minus the little defect with the hair but you can barely notice it. Your effects seemed to work perfectly and effectively! I can safely give you a 9.2/10!

A combination of many different things. I looked for some tutorials online, (I couldn't tell you exactly which effects they were, but one was a multiple lens flare effect, one was a tutorial in which you pick an image and apply filter after filter, after filter. . . etc, a lot of which was filter-distort-wave, layer duplication, more wave, overlay, merge, etc. Many times with different process. One was a basic wallpaper background tutorial, modified to fit mine) What I did was complete the lens flare effect, and used the result for my image in the wave tutorial. I found what I liked and would work on my version of Photoshop (Actually, some of them weren't for PS 5, but I modified them to create different effects) I seperately completed and modified each effect, then combined them, modifying in between with filters and additions, etc. Then, when I got a good-looking effect, I sheared it, then some colorizing, inverting, changing modes, etc.
Modification is the key--do it in every step or tutorial, and you sometimes come up with something good. As for saying exactly what I did, I did too many things to remember every one. I could reveal the tutorials, if you want. Rarely, if ever, will I make an effect 100% from a tutorial.
Overall, I am satisfied with the work on this one. I am unsure what I will do next, but I'll likely start SOMETHING soon.

Blunt, but possible. I am uncertain whether or not I will attempt making that one before I have more mastered Photoshop, but we'll see. I might make a newer, better Vincent wallpaper, or something else altogether. I think at least one more will come before I make a Raistlin wallpaper.

There's been little posting here other than just wallpapers, perhaps a better rating system is in order? That can be decided later, though. For now, as I said, I realize that my first Vincent wallpaper was not all that impressive, so I decided to improve upon it. Some aspects are similar to the first Vincent wallpaper, as I partly consider this new one a remake of it, but it is also different. I decided to stick with the original red and green background colors, they seemed to work well with the character, just with better effects and images this time.

Definiately better then your first one. They style is similar to your Sephiroth wallpaper, and you did a better job in fixing those rough edges. My only complaint is that the text is a little hard to see in spots, but aside from that, I give it a 9.1/10. I've also noticed that the background effect is a little bit simiar to Reno's earlier wallpaper.

Thats a nice wallpaper. Much better than the original one before, better blending of images, excellent.
I would suggest running an auto color and auto contrast and brightness on the images to make them all the sameish, but then your only using 5 LE

Drizzt: Perhaps similar to Reno's Vincent wallpaper, but really, I was looking for more detailed background effects, and I wanted to use the same colors as in the first one, so I naturally came to a conclusion like this.
Reno: Likely PS 5 LE can't even do it. At least I've never tried (Or even looked for) the option. I like this Vincent one, but I'm going to look for a different style of wallpaper now, since all of them thus far have been mostly the same, with a collage of differently faded images.
